How long have you been in business?
It will be 8 years this December 1st 2015.

Why did you start your business?
What an incredible way to share Winnipeg and Manitoba and Canada to the world– through chocolate! We can be productive, employ people, be creative and as well, support and be involved in our community and city in a diversity of ways!
What is the most popular item/service you offer?
Our Chocolate Bon bons, bars & barks
Why should Canadians visit your business? What makes your business great?
We do super unique things with chocolate that have been featured at high-profile events such as the gift lounges in LA (Golden Globes, Oscars), the Vancouver Olympics, Royal Visits, Premiers Conference, Juno Awards, FIFA etc. etc. We have created molds that reflect Winnipeg & Manitoba’s remarkable flagship exhibits (Chocolate Canadian Museum for Human Rights, Chocolate Golden Boy) we also created the Great Canadian Chocolate Bar made with freshly tapped Manitoba Birch Syrup and a signature mold depicted out of a piece of Birch Bark – move over maple syrup!
Is this your only location? If no, how many do you have?
We have a second summer location on Provencher Bridge. Also, we sell our chocolates in the following gift shops: Canadian Museum for Human Rights, Manitoba Legislature, Winnipeg Art Gallery, and soon the Manitoba Museum. Also, the Delta and Alt Hotels here in Winnipeg.
How do you feel your business supports the community?
Through charity events (donating our time and our products), volunteering in community events and supporting community and city-wide events and initiatives (Protected Bike Lanes is our most recent ones). We are involved in Winnipeg’s CEO Sleepout (raising $ for homelessness).
What are the biggest challenges and rewards you face/receive?
Its not easy owning a small business! Challenges throughout the year include (not in any order): adhering to various regulations, maintaining cashflow, ensuring inventory is kept up well, attracting and maintaining good quality staff, nurturing long term relationships with customers (retail & wholesale), suppliers, financial institutions and grant funders, community and event partners etc. Finding time to grow the business (currently purchasing new equipment) and to train and learn best techniques along the way (several various training courses throughout the year, this year, Montreal & Las Vegas). Ensuring the locations and equipment within are all maintained properly and running smoothly. Keeping our media friends involved with all our projects, and maintaining our connections with various events we are involved with throughout the year (from Festival du Voyageur to Canada Day, to Winnipeg Folk Festival to Culture Days etc.) including the unique ones that pass through (Junos, FIFA, Royal Visits etc.) and maintaining our connections with arts organizations (WSO, WAG, RWB etc.). – Keeping everyone involved and satisfied! Maintaining memberships (attending many meetings with little time to spare) and ensuring input is worthwhile.
